PENNSYLVANIA PARKS PROJECT

 Okay. Ms Thief has way too many side quests. But I have elected one that will keep me happy as well as not setting a firm deadline or goal.

I plan to visit every state park in Pennsylvania. With intention. I have already done a lot with living here for most of my life, but I always advocate for people to TRAVEL any way that they can. Not just the grandiose international trips, but get out there and do something that feels like travel or a vacation.

A lot of my personal happiness is tied to being outside, and I thought this would be a good motivator to make sure I take time for myself and explore, do what I love without restriction.

I am going to revisit in order to actually appreciate that state parks are amazing and national parks (which I adore) aren't the only places that should get attention. 

Here is one of probably the earliest pics I have saved in my Google photos from a PA state park and it is NOT the first park I visited on my new quest. This is Little Red Barn Campground at Nockamixon State Park...It might have also been one of the first times Mr. Thief went camping in his life.

I'm an anglophile.  I blame my mother for raising me on PBS shows in the 80s which were almost completely British programming.  Considering that this was a time before cable, it makes sense given the lack of options coming through on the antenna. One of the things I was looking forward to in Hong Kong was some of this British imprint on Chinese culture. Even though the British officially departed 20 years ago, this tradition of afternoon tea has taken hold in Hong Kong. Hong Kong definitely has a strong tea culture in general (I love milk tea! Postcards

 I came across an article in Travel + Leisure that talked about sending postcards - whether you were traveling or not. About a year and a half ago, one of my close friends at my travel job (we had been there the whole 13 years together) decided to leave to take on the job of stay at home mom. I struggled to think about what I could do to mark our time spent together but what token would do that? Inspiration struck, and I went online and bought a stack of postcards. I took half of them, stamped them, and put my address on them to give to my friend.  I kept the other half for myself so that we would have a way to continue our little "chats" that we would have at the office or the notes that we would leave for each other. Little did I know that the Pandemic would strike 3 months later and this would be a blessing for communication. This post is for the birds

So, I have become more active with birding and identifying birds during the past year during the pandemic, but it's been recently to look back on now birding adventures and see where birds fit in. In my memories from 9 years ago, a picture of me holding a falcon in Dubai at a desert experience outside of the city popped up. Additionally, I came across images and a story from a Saudi Prince who booked 80 seats on a commercial flight for his falcons.
